The book was written mostly in the late 80s, has an unreliable narrator, a main character who "owns" the club who is an ignorant, vainglorious fool, and a few musicians, music critics, and a sleazy manager who is a closet K-SHE hippie. It's the War & Peace of the Fun One Hundred era of St. Louis punk, if only because it's the only thing written about the era at all!
